What is the difference between the Successful Marine Backup Service Plans and any other classical backup solution?

The Successful Marine Backup Service Plans are more secure and more flexible than a classic backup system.  It is more secure because they are monitored by a Successful Technician on a daily basis and because they are saved on a safe, remote location that is far away from your business premises.  A fire, a theft, a computer virus or a corrupted hard disk cannot threat the safety of your business data, because your data will be stored on a different geographical location.  And they are far more flexible because with Successful Marine Backup Service Plans you will be able to restore even part of your data and not all of them.  For example, if you use a classical backup solution, and you discover that you did something ten days before that you want now to undo, then the only thing that a classical backup solution can do for you is to restore all your data and make all of them as they were ten days before.  With the Successful Marine Backup Service Plans and with cooperation with the Successful Software Technical Support you can restore only the data that you want to restore.

It covers	Partial or total loss of data of Successful Marine.  Lost data due to fire, earthquake, theft, computer virus, corrupted hard disk, etc of the Successful Marine Server.   In short (but not exclusively) the database data that will be covered by this backup plan are the following: all customers, vessels, agents, contracts, invoices, receipts, bill of goods in the Sales and in the Purchases module of Successful Marine, history of charges, history of vessel's places, history of financial agreements, product and service sales, inventory of products, invoices of suppliers, data of the audit system, etc.	The same as Backup Service Plan A
Exceptions	Scanned-Attached documents and copies of electronic documents of the Successful Marine Electronic Document Management System, OLAP reports, Form/Document templates and generally any file that resides on your server's folders.  It is absolutely necessary, for your complete protection, to setup a complimentary Windows Backup procedure that will take backup of the entire server (recommended), or at least the important folders of your server to a local backup location (eg an external backup disk). This extra measure will allow you to protect also data that are stored on your server but fall outside the scope of the critical business data of Successful Marine.	The same as Backup Service Plan A
Frequency of backup	Daily (at 12.00 midnight) - RECOMMENDED for maximum security and protection	Weekly (every Sunday at 12.00 midnight)

Q: Why you recommend "Successful Marine Backup Service Plan A" instead of "Successful Marine Backup Service Plan B"?

A: We recommend "Successful Marine Backup Service Plan A" because this plan will take backup daily (not weekly).  In case you have Plan B and something happens during the week, you will have to go back historically several days, which means that you will loose all the information you entered into the system from the day Plan B took the last backup, until the day you had the problem.  This translates into down time, because after you restore the backup of Plan B, you will still have to enter all the missing information into the system in order to make it up to date again.

 

Q:  Is there a way that we can have a full back up (all the attachments, electronic documents etc. all-in-one?)

A: Unfortunately, at this time, Successful Software cannot offer you a single backup solution.  We will take care of the critical business data of Successful Marine according to the backup plan that you will select.  And your IT department has to setup a Windows Backup procedure for the entire server (recommended).  This is necessary because the server holds, many other data apart from Successful Marine's data.  The reason that we cannot take backup of all the files of your server, or, at least all the files of the Successful Marine domain is because these data are huge and cannot be transfered over Internet within an acceptable time frame.
